Exercise Bikes and Safety

Exercise bikes increase safety in three different areas. First, riding a stationary bike at home instead of taking a bike outside can be safer in areas with no bike lanes or trails, cold weather, or unchained dogs. Second, a good warm-up on your exercise bike will decrease the risk of injury or muscle sprains when you do weight lifting or other high-impact activity. Third, an exercise bike can be safer for you to use than other home exercise machines.

Most people might prefer to take their bikes through their neighborhood, a good park, or on a scenic road, but that is not always possible. Weather can often get in the way, and a person who is new to exercise and serious about sticking to it should not sabotage themselves by risking bad weather, cold weather, or extremely hot weather. Some people will take advantage of any excuse that comes their way. Also, not every city in the country encourages bikers. There might not be appropriately wide or safe lanes, or bike trails. This puts bikers at risk of being seriously injured or killed.

Warming up is always critical before any aerobic activity or weight training. You need to literally make your muscles limber and stretched, increase your heart rate, and prepare your body for a longer, more intense work out.

Some people might want to use a treadmill instead of an exercise bike, for whatever reason. But it is also possible to trip and fall on a treadmill, causing serious injury to yourself. People trip over their own feet all of the time, and the chances for this only increases when on a moving floor.
